THE YEAR SO FAR...
2004 has been another exciting and busy year for all of us here at Total Theatre.
We begun with our second successful Vaudeville show “Kindly Leave The
Stage” which was presented in Cabaret style, to sell-out crowds, by our
1st and 2nd years as well as guest post-graduates. George Shevtsov joined us
in July as a guest director for the 1st years mid-year show, with a zany interpretation
of Dorothy Hewitt’s quirky play ‘Golden Valley’. In September,
our 1st years embarked on a hugely successful Theatre-in-Education tour. Under
the direction of Reg Bolton, they created two specialised shows – ‘The
Circus Mystery’ for Primary Schools and ‘Lost in Western Australia’
for senior citizens. We were also invited to be a part of the 2004 Chinese Autumn
Festival Celebrations and will be joining in the Chinese New Year celebrations
next February. Now they are busy preparing for their end-of-year spectacular
(see details above) And that’s just
the shows! Students have undertaken a very rigorous and intensive training this
year including classes in: capoeira, tai chi, stage combat, tap, swing, contact
release, Feldenkrais, acro-balance, circus skills, mime, commedia - just to
name a few! Then there’s the laughter, the tears, the inspiration, the
crazy, the zany, the beautiful and grotesque. Friends made and lives changed.
COURSES IN 2005
Applications are now open for our main course in 2005, with first round auditions being held in early December. Application forms are available from www.totaltheate.com.au The one-year course runs from March- November, Mon – Wed from 9.30am – 5pm. This intensive, performance-based course with its emphasis on physical theatre includes training in Creative Movement, Theatre, Mime, Feldenkrais, Mask, Improvisation, Dance, Circus Arts, Voice, Singing, Text, Scriptwriting, Stage Combat, and Clowning. An optional second year of training provides an opportunity for students to continue their training whilst beginning to create their own individual and ensemble work. Students can learn from the training according to their own abilities and needs. It is this flexibility that makes the Total Theatre School so unique. Their individuality is heightened and their creativity enhanced as they spend a year sharing the ups and downs of a rigorous training and the empowering experience of producing successful, original theatre. Students will benefit not only from an exceptional teaching faculty but also from immersion in an environment of intense and serious dedication to the art of performance.
OPEN DAY
This year, our open day will be held on SUNDAY 28th NOVEMBER 2004 from 1pm
– 4pm at Total Theatre – 16 Lochee Street, Mosman Park. If you are

November. Our open day will provide opportunities for interested students and
industry practitioners to witness, first hand, the schools’ unique character,
talk in depth with the school’s artistic director about the nature of
the training and chat to current students about their experiences and adventures
at Total Theatre.
