TOTAL THEATRE TRAINING

Now in its 8th year, Total Theatre has established a unique reputation as one of Australia's outstanding theatre training opportunities, successfully bringing together some of the best specialist teachers and practitioners of the profession and providing a well-rounded, high calibre training with an emphasis on physical theatre.

DIRECTOR - ANNIE STAINER

The Director, international performer Annie Stainer has performed in ensembles with Steven Berkoff, Lindsay Kemp and David Bowie. For 6 years Annie was Head of Movement at the W.A. Academy Of Performing Arts. She is an inspirational visionary and much loved teacher with a unique, holistic approach to the training of the performer.

3 MONTH COURSE

This is a special opportunity for those wishing to take advantage of the Total Theatre training in a more condensed form than our one and two-year courses.
Training includes: Theatre, Mime, Dance, Feldenkrais, Improvisation, Circus Arts, Aerial Skills, Voice, Singing, Stage Combat, Martial Arts, Clowning, Commedia dell'Arte, Acting for Film & Television and Arts Marketing.
Training runs for 3 days a week.
Mon - Wed, 9.30am - 5pm.

Next course begins 5th April 2010 and runs for 13 weeks in total.

Students at Total Theatre enjoy training in a wide range of exciting performance skills with some of the finest teacher of theatre arts available in Australia. THE STUDENTS
******************************************************************************************

Students at Total Theatre come from a wide variety of backgrounds and age groups. Our courses cater not only for experienced performers and professionals but also for beginners stepping into the world of performance for the first time.
Graduates of Total Theatre have gone on to work with some of Perth's foremost theatre companies, whilst others have created solo work or formed independent theatre companies, taking their work to theatre, comedy and street arts festivals around the world. Others have continued their training, accepting positions at WAAPA, VCA and NICA.

THE VENUE

Nestled between river and sea in Mosman Park is the beautiful Art Deco Camelot Theatre, home of Total Theatre. A 10 min stroll from the train station, Total Theatre is easily accessible with plenty of free parking and tasty food available across the street.

HOW TO APPLY
******************************************************************************************

Training is open to those aged 17yrs+.
There are no formal qualifications required as prerequisites for the training. Prospective students are asked to send a page of biographical information, as well as a statement outlining why they wish to do the training, with their application form.
Auditions will be held throughout Feb and March 2010. If you are unable to make the auditions please contact us - we do accept video/dvd.

Audition Process
Individuals are allocated half hour slots for presentation and discussion with School Director, Annie Stainer. For your audition, we ask that you perform a short piece of text of your choice (a poem, a monologue, a play etc.) as well as a short physical piece of your choice (dance, acrobatics, mime, creative movement etc.) These can be traditional or self-devised. If your audition piece includes both text and movement then the one piece is fine, otherwise we ask that applicants perform two short pieces to demonstrate both spoken and physical skills. Your audition presentation should be 3-4 minutes long. You can include any kind of performance: singing, dancing, poetry, prose, magic, tumbling or circus skills. Those sending their audition on video/dvd will also be allocated interview time with Director Annie Stainer.


COURSE FEES
******************************************************************************************

Course fees are $3850 (including GST).This is payable in two instalments of $1925 - once at the beginning of the course, and once at the commencement of week 7. Or one instalment of $3700 (a saving of $150 applies if total fees are paid at commencement of the course). Fees for international students are the same.
